Points Every Manager Should Remember for Healthy Collaboration

A project is handled by a team of individuals working together. And, whenever teamwork is involved collaboration becomes the key to it all. Not just collaborating, but collaborating in a healthy way.

Below are some ways that will certainly help improve the quality of collaboration in whatever project you’re handling. Take a look -
  • Make sure everybody is on the same track
Keeping everyone on the same page is important. Its crucial that teams are aware of project goals. This knowledge along with where the project is standing right now is important. People will lose coordination unless a manager keeps them knowledgeable and updated about everything related to the project. Team members can stay focused in the right direction only when they are working collectively. If different people are functioning independently with different motives, things will go out of sync.
  • Use tools to manage work
A lot of software are now available specifically for making project related tasks easier. There are tools to keep notes, generate reports, assign tasks, track time, etc. Although, you can pick dedicated tools for different purpose, but it will consume more of your time. Because, you will have to keep shuffling between them. So, rather than choosing multiple tools go with a project management software that does the job of many.

  • Don’t ignore the individual interests of team members
It’s true that the interest of project should be left separate from individual interest. But, managers should not forget that even when teams are working towards a common project goal, they will still look for individual recognition. Therefore, it’s important to keep reminding everyone in your team how their efforts will benefit them on a personal level, other than benefiting the project. Once team members can see that there’s something for them as well, they would willingly want to go an extra mile to achieve project goals.
  • Always preserve transparency
Honesty is the best policy. It’s not just some corny line. It’s the truth, and there’s no replacement for it. In case things are going south, make sure to be open and honest about it. Share the details of project progress with everyone who’s part of the team. Do not keep those details confined to only a few team members while others are oblivious to it. The practice is important because it makes people feel like an important part of the project. The more you try to keep things hidden, the more it will negatively affect the quality of collaboration.
  • Conduct productive meetings
Do not waste everyone’s time unless you have a solid and meaningful agenda to discuss during meets. Do not conduct meetings just for the sake of it. Know beforehand what it is that you want to achieve from the meeting. Do you want to come-up with a solution for some problem? Or, is it to discuss the progress? Before you leave the room, make sure the purpose is achieved. Also, don’t forget to use a collaborative project management software to share the MOMs with everyone.

Do not forget to bring these tricks in your practices as a project manager. And let us know your experience. We Would love to hear from you.
